Speakers at a meeting on “Overall Road Communication Network” here on Friday underlining the need for ensuring proper monitoring to oversee the progress of works of different development projects undertaken by the Roads and Highways Department.
They also said the concerned contractors should be inspired to implement the projects properly and timely.
The speakers emphasised the need for concerted efforts of all including public representatives for improving the overall road communication network of the district side by side with execution of all the uplift projects properly.
Joint secretary of communication ministry Sazzadul Hassan attended the meeting while deputy commissioner Netrakona Anis Mahmud was in the chair.
The meeting was also attended by district-level officers, public representatives including upazila chairmen and municipality mayors, leaders of transport workers and owners associations and journalists.
It was followed by an hour-long discussion on the matters relating to progress of works of different on going projects for construction of various roads, pavements and bridges in the district.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by additional police super Netrakona Delwar Hussain, chairman of Netrakona Sadar upazila parisahd Professor Tafsiruddin Khan, chairman of Kalmakanda upazila parishad Golam Rabbani and journalists M Faqrul Haque and Alpana Begum.
Joint secretary Sazzad Hussain issued instructions to the officers and engineers of roads and high ways department to work with utmost sincerity and honesty by rising above their self interest for implementing the projects timely and properly. -BSS, Netrakona
