Ferry service on Daulatdia-Paturia route resumes

Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia route resumed on Friday morning after a seven-hour halt due to navigation crisis in the mighty Padma River.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources said the services resumed at 4:00am.
The long halt in the services created huge tailbacks on both sides of the channel inflicting immense sufferings to passengers, especially women, children and elderly persons.
Several hundreds passenger buses and 400 cargo trucks were stuck in at Daulatdia till filling the report this noon.
BIWTC Chairman Mujibur Rahman said Saturday that big ferries could not enter the channel as the passage of the river became narrow. “We are planning to engage some mini ferries to keep the route full functional,” he added. –BSS, Rajbari
