Police recovered the bodies of a couple from a residential hotel near Olankar intersection in Pahartali thana of the port city on Saturday morning.
Police identified the deceased couple as per hotel register as Saiful Islam and Ajeda Begum, both aged 23, who hailed from Comilla district.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Pahartali Police Station Azizur Rahman said Saiful and Ajeda checked in Friday afternoon at New Golden City Hotel.
Getting no response from the couple’s room despite repeated attempts by the attendants around 9:30 am, the hotel informed police.
Police broke into the room and found the hanging body of Saiful from ceiling fan and Ajeda’s body lying in a pool of blood in the bed.
The bodies were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy. –UNB, Chittagong
