Mess-dwellers’ 10 proposals for addressing situation

Dhaka: Bangladesh Mess Organization (BMO) staged a sit-in programme in front of the National Press Club on Friday morning to draw the attention of the authorities to their 10-point proposal for reviewing their living conditions in the wake of the countrywide militant crisis.
Mess-dwellers have been facing the brunt of the government’s operation to root out militancy, in the form of block raids that disproportionately target the communal living quarters populated mostly by single men, often in severely cramped conditions. UNB News Agency Reported.Habibur Rahman Manir, president of the BMO, presided over Friday Morning’s programme.
To ensure safety in messes and for security of mess-dwellers, on behalf of BMO, secretary general Ayatullah AKhter placed 10 proposals in a keynote presentation, said a press release of Bangladesh Mess Organization.
The 10 proposals include formulating a policy for allocating places in residential house and flats across the country including Dhaka city, to ensure identification of mess-dwellers and cooperating with police inspections, to increase rates in a logical way instead of arbitrarily, providing unemployment allowance ( to BA Honours passed) at a basic level and ensuring overall security for mess-dwellers.
