Metropolis Open Women’s Volleyball begins on Sunday

Dhaka – The Popular Life Insurance Dhaka Metropolis Open Women’s Volleyball Competition started on Sunday at Shaheed Nur Hossain National Volleyball Stadium in the city.
Bangladesh Ansar beat up Kishoreganj DSA, Bangladesh Police defeated Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, Bangladesh Ansar again outplayed Bangladesh Police and Quantum Foundation beat up Narayanganj DSA, all by straight 2-0 sets.
The day’s other match between Dhaka University and Wari Club was in progress till last reports received.
Earlier, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr Zafar Uddin formally inaugurated the five-day meet in the afternoon.
BM Shawkat Ali, Additional Managing Director of Popular Life Insurance Company also sponsor of the event was present there as special guest where General Secretary of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation, Ashiqur Rahman Miku was present. Chairman of Women’s Volleyball Committee Syeda Jannath Ara presided over the function.
Seven more matches will be held on Monday at the same venue.
Eight teams, split into two groups, will compete initially on league basis matches and later two top teams from each of the groups will play in the semifinals on Tuesday (April 9). The final and the 3rd place-deciding matches will be held on Wednesday (April 10).

Group A – Wari Club, Narayanganj District, Dhaka University and Quantum Foundation
Group B – Ansar & VDP, Bangladesh Police, Kishoreganj DSA and Viqarunnissa Noon School & College.UNB
