Police on Wednesday recovered the body of a schoolgirl, who had gone missing on Sunday, from the Damudar river in Damudya Upazila.The deceased was identified as Kaniz Mumu Akhtar, 13, student of class VIII of Pilot Girls High School and daughter of Golam Azam of Sinan Ghat village in Madaripur district.
Police, quoting the family members, said Kaniz had remained missing since after she went out of the home having argument with her parents over study on Sunday night.
On Tuesday, locals spotted her body on the bank of the river and informed police.
Police recovered the body and took it to the local thana where the deceased’s family identified it.
The body was later sent to Shariatpur Sadar hospital morgue.
