Actress Mita Noor found dead

Celebrated television actress Mita Noor was found dead at her Gulshan residence on Monday morning. On information, police from Gulshan Police Station went to the flat of Mita Noor, wife of Shahanur Rahman alias Rana, at a multistoried building at House no-16, Road no-104 of Gulshan-1 near Manarat International University in the morning, and found the body of Mita hanging from a ceiling point around 6:45 am.
Sub-inspector Sabbir, the duty officer of the police station, said police were informed that Mita committed suicide.
Police sent Mita’s body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue from Gulshan at about 1:30 pm. Forensic medicine specialist Dr Abul Khayer conducted postmortem on the body in the evening.
Her body was handed over to the family members on completion of the postmortem in the afternoon.
Mahjad Noor, the elder son of Mita, received the body from the DMCH morgue around 4:00 pm.
Family members said a family feud between Mita and her husband might have pushed Mita to ‘commit suicide’.
Mita’s father, Fazlur Rahman, told reporters that her husband used to torture Mita both physically and mentally.
Meanwhile, police interrogated Rana at their residence.
Fazlur Rahman filed an unnatural death case (UD) with Gulshan Police Station in this connection.
Mita Noor made her debut in TV acting through performing in the weekly drama of Bangladesh Television, ‘Sagar Secha Shad’, which was telecast on January 6, 1989. Riajuddin Badsha was the producer of the drama.
But, she finally drew a special attention of the viewers with her performance as a model girl in an advertisement of Olympic Battery.
Mita shot to prominence through the TV advertisement of Afzal Hossain, “Aro Alo, Besi Alo, Chchandey Chchandey Mon Matanu…”, in 1992.
Mita Noor acted in a good number of dramas apart from her role in the cultural field in various ways over the last 24 years. She produced and directed a number of popular dramas.                    – UNB
