Mobile court convicts one hemp trader in Faridpur

A mobile court yesterday (Monday) evening convicted one drug peddler and awarded one year rigorous imprisonment for possessing 4.800 kg of hemp (Ganja) in Shovarampur area adjacent to this town.According to official sources, on the basis of secret information gathered by RAB-8, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Mondip Ghorai carried on drive in North Shovarampur area.The mobile court was assisted by RAB-8 Assistant Director Sr. Assistant Police Super Md. Aminul Haque along with their troupe.The RAB men nabbed Jamal Fakir son of late Osman Fakir in his house who was waiting for customer to sell 4.800 kg of hemp. At the appearance of the law enforcers Jamal tried to flee away but ultimately was nabbed by the law enforcers with the help of local people.He was later presented to the mobile court where he confessed to the court that he has been trading hemp for a long time and admitted his guilt.The mobile court on the spot in presence of the local people awarded Jamal Fakir one year rigorous imprisonment for possessing and selling the contraband drug. -BSS, Faridpur
