Mongladob Bridge inaugurated in Gangachara

The newly built Mongladob Bridge on a canal at Mongladob point on Kolkond-Tentultola-Betgari road in Gangachara upazila was inaugurated at a ceremony arranged on the bridge site yesterday.
The overall road communication between Kolkond and Betgari unions of the upazila will now be improved significantly reducing distance by three kilometres and benefiting over 40 lakh people of the two unions and adjoining areas.Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Farid Ahammad formally inaugurated the newly built 39 feet long reinforced cement concrete (RCC) bridge constructed at Taka 28 lakh under funding of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tauhidul Alam presided over the inaugural ceremony arranged at the bridge site under Kolkond union and hundreds of the local people from all walks in life attended the occasion.Chairman of Kolkond union Mominur Rahman and Gangachara Upazila Project Implementation Officer Matiur Rahman attended the ceremony as the special guests.Kolkond union members Rubina Begum, Rafikul Islam and Badal Roy,businessman AK Azad, representative of Construction Company ‘Messer’s Kamruzzaman Limited’ engaged for construction of the bridge Rezaul Karim Suruz were present.The District Relief and Rehabilitation Office through Gangachara Upazila Project Implementation Office implemented the construction work of the 39 feet bridge at a cost of Taka 28 lakh under funding of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Abdus Salam said that inauguration of the Mongladob Bridge will substantially improve road communication facilities in the area to improve the socio-economic condition of the local people. -BSS, Rangpur
