The government is considering expansion of the government-to-government manpower export, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said on Tuesday.
Replying to a supplementary question of Nazmul Huq Pradhan in the Parliament, the Minister said the success of the system with Malaysia has encouraged the government to go for similar process with South Korea, Singapore ad Jordan. “This system will be expanded,” he said.Responding to another supplementary question of Enamul Huq he said that the manpower exporting to Malaysia slowed down recently because of Malaysian election.
The new government in Malaysia took some time to continue with the system, he said.
“Now the rate is gaining its momentum,” he said.
He said Bangladesh seeks to send 50,000 workers to Malaysia in the near future.
Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engr Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said Tuesday in Parliament said the process to send manpower to the UAE might begin very shortly.
Responding to a supplementary question of AFM Bahauddin Nasim, he said that a high-powered team of UAE is likely to visit Bangladesh in the last week of the current month (March).
“The team will have a meeting with us and we are hoping that after that meeting, we’ll be able to send our manpower again (to UAE).”
Currently, the UAE has stopped taking manpower from seven countries including Bangladesh.
In this connection, the Expatriates Welfare Minister said that the UAE government is now under tremendous pressure because of excessive population of the foreigners in their country.
“The number of foreigners in their country is higher than the native population. That’s why they stopped taking manpower from the seven countries including Bangladesh,” he said. – UNB
