More landslides in Ctg, Sylhet likely

Dhaka – Landslide is likely to hit the hilly regions of Sylhet and Chittagong divisions in the next 24 hours beginning from 5pm on Wednesday following heavy to very heavy rainfall. -UNB
Under the influence of southwest monsoon, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places of the two divisions during the period, said Met office.
Meanwhile, Dhaka city experienced a shower of rain on Wednesday afternoon.
Abul Hamid, assistant meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorology Department, said they recorded 32 mm of rainfall in six hours from 12 pm to 6 pm.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the deadliest hillslide in the county’s history has climbed to 144 with the recovery of the bodies of 11 more people on Wednesday.
The hillslide triggered by incessant rains struck Chittagong, Rangamati, Bandarban, Khagrachhari and Cox’s Bazar district on Tuesday.
