More silk exports stressed for making economy vibrant

Emphasis should be given on promoting more silk export from the region for making its economy vibrant coupled with elevating its socio-economic condition through earning more foreign currencies, said speakers at a participatory discussion here on Tuesday.

They mentioned that boosting production of local yarn can help bolstering the export list coupled with revitalising the silk sector to regain its lost legacy alongside meeting the existing local demands.

They also stressed the need for enhancing export items through establishing industries based on agricultural and non-agricultural products in the region by utilising government initiatives aimed at earning foreign currency.

The observations came at a view-sharing meeting styled “Boosting Production of Silk Products in Rajshahi region and its Export” held at Regional office of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
