Visiting Russian Deputy Minister of Industries and Trade Yuri Slyusar on Tuesday said Russian businessmen are interested to invest in pharmaceuticals, communication and other infrastructure sector in Bangladesh.
“Bangladeshi products have huge demand in Russia,” he said during a meeting with the leaders of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at the DCCI office. The Russian deputy minister stressed establishment of direct banking service between Bangladesh and Russia and reduce tariff barriers, and said that the two countries should share more business related information and arrange B2B service to boost bilateral trade.
He urged Bangladeshi businessmen to import chemical, heavy machineries and aircraft from Russia. The business meeting between visiting 24-member Russian trade delegation and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) was held today (Tuesday).
Yuri Slyusar led the Russian delegation in the meeting where Ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh Alexander A Nikolaev was present. DCCI President M Sabur Khan welcomed the delegation to DCCI and said the present level of bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Russia is far from satisfactory and still remains at a very low level in favour of Russia.
He invited Russia to invest in the power and energy sector of Bangladesh as “we have been maintaining a congenial investment-friendly environment.” Sabur Khan also stressed Chamber to Chamber strong relation in order to boost bilateral trade.
He said the DCCI has established a Help Desk through which entrepreneurs from both home and abroad can be benefited. He also urged for establishing direct air flight between Dhaka and Moscow. –UNB
