Opposition BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed on Thursday alleged that a vested quarter is trying to take control Shahbagh demonstrations under a political banner.
“The democracy is the main spirit of liberation war and independence. There will be everything alright if democracy exists. Otherwise county’s sovereignty will be destroyed,” he said.
The senior leader of the party came up with the assertion while addressing a discussion on ‘Present Political Situation: Future of Democracy and Contribution of Moulana Bhasani’ organized by Bangladesh Unmukta Parishad at the National Press Club.
Moudud urged the youths to aware about the mass outrage as a political party is trying to pull it as a political banner.
The veteran BNP leader also said, “Judges want to do fair justice but they have lost their courage as the government still continues to influence them. As a result, they cannot pass the verdict properly.”
With president of the organization Ramiz Uddin Rumi in the chair, the programme was also addressed, among others, by Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farooque and BNP leader Abu Naser M Abdullah.banglanews24.com
