Moudud’s son’s body arrives

The body of Aman Momtaz Moudud, the only son of BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed, arrived here from Singapore on Wednesday evening.

Moudud and his wife Hasna Moudud along with the body of their son in coffin reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 6:15pm by a regular flight of Bangladesh Biman Airlines, Moudud’s chamber junior Ehsanur Rahman told UNB.

His body was straight drove to Moudud’s Gulshan residence enabling relatives and well-wishers and Moudud’s political colleagues to have last glimpse of Aman.

Barrister Rafiqul Haque, Prime Minister’s adviser Gowher Rizvi, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju, and BNP leaders Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman, M Morshed Khan and Mahbubuddin Khokan, among others, visited Moudud’s residence and consoled him.

Later, his body was taken to United Hospital around 9:30pm and it will be kept at its mortuary overnight on Wednesday, he said.

Ehsan said Aman’s body will be taken to Companyganj, Noakhali around 8am on Thursday. His first namaz-e-janaza will he be held at Bashurhat High School ground there.

His second janaza will be held at High Court Mosque after Johr prayers.

Later, his mortal remains will be flown to Faridpur.

Aman will be buried beside the grave of his grandfather Palli Kabi (rural poet) Jasimuddin in Faridpur after final janaza there.

Aman Moudud died early Tuesday when he was being flown to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore by an air ambulance from United Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 38.

Earlier on September 9, attacked with fever, Aman had been admitted to United Hospital where he was diagnosed with dengue.

Aman’s condition started deteriorating early Monday after he was given antibiotic for dengue and then he was put on life support.
