Paying homage to journalist ABM Musa who passed away recently, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday described him as a legend in journalism.
“ABM Musa was a legend in journalism. His pen was always sharp, active in favour of protecting people’s rights and restoring democracy,” he said.Fakhrul made the remarks after signing a condolence book kept at the Musa Smrity Manch at a book fair arranged by the Jatiya Press Club on its premises.
Talking to reporters on the occasion, the BNP spokesman lamented that the ruling party had unduly criticised Musa at his last stage of life only for speaking the truth and advocating for democracy.
Veteran journalist ABM Musa, a close aide of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, passed away at a city hospital on April 9 at the age of 83.
Fakhrul thanked the Jatiya Press Club for arranging the week-long book fair on its premises marking the Bengali New Year. Jatiya Press Club general secretary Syed Abdal Ahmed and fair organising committee convener Hasan Hafiz also spoke on the occasion. – UNB
