Mustafizur’s good show just around the corner: Domingo

Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo said he believes the underperforming pacer Mustafizur Rahman is close to delivering a good show with the ball. The southpaw conceded 92 runs in the three-match T20 series against India and failed to pick up a single wicket.
Despite this dismal display with the ball in the just-concluded series, Domingo was upbeat about Mustafizur’s return to the good form.
“He has the quality to deliver a better performance. He is our most experienced bowler. We know a good performance is just around the corner,” Domingo told reporters recently.
Mahmudullah Riyad, the stand-in T20 captain of the Tigers, also backed Mustafizur who is struggling with his form at present. Like the head coach, Mahmudullah also expressed his faith on the 24-year-old pacer.
“We should not rethink about his place. He is a champion bowler in spite of his failure to live up to the expectation in the T20 series against India. We believe he is just one match away from his best performance,” Mahmudullah told the media.
Mustafizur came to the fore with his jaw-dropping performance in the debut series back in 2015 against India. He picked up 11 wickets in his first two ODIs. He played the main role when Bangladesh registered their maiden series win over India in any forms of international cricket.
However, Mustafizur looked like he lost his ‘fizz’ in recent times as he scalped only nine wickets in his last 10 T20Is, which raised many eyebrows in the country and abroad.
Bangladesh are now gearing up to face the hosts in a two-match Test series, with the first Test taking place in Indore from November 14, and the second Test, first-ever day-night affair in the sub-continent, will be hosted by Kolkata on November 22, reports UNB.
