Mysterious blast injures three in central city building

Three people sustained burn injuries in a mysterious explosion in the city’s Central Road area on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Fazlur Rahman, 47, and his nephew Delwar Hossain, 26, and niece Panna, 30.
Inspector Mozammel, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said the three people sustained burn injuries in an explosion from an unknown source on the fifth floor of a six-storey building in Central Road area around 8:00 am.The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Sarwar, additional deputy commissioner of a bomb disposal unit of DB of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said a team of bomb disposal unit went to the spot to unearth the origin of the explosion.
Primarily it is suspected that the explosion might have occurred following gas formation inside the closed store room, he added.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge of Kalabagan police station Md Iqbal said officials of Titus Gas, Fire Service and Civil Defence people also visited the place soon after the incident.
Explosion occurred inside a store room of the flat. The explosion might have occurred due to collection of gas in the store room, the OC said as quoted the visiting officers.
DMCH sources said condition of Panna is critical as she received 95 percent burn injuries. – News Desk
