National Jute Day Monday

National Jute Day-2017 will be observed throughout the country amid enthusiasm with a view to make jute goods popular among the people.

The slogan of the day is “Golden fiber, Golden Country, Jute goods of Bangladesh.”

In the capital, the day will be inaugurated with a rally that would begin in front of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 9am. Minister for Textile and Jute Imaj Uddin Pramanik and State Minister Mirza Azam will lead the rally.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate Jute Goods Fair at Krishibid Institution on March 9.

Besides, an art competition on the canvas of Jute also was held in front of the Jatiay Sangsad Bhaban at 10 am today (March 5) where noted personalities including artist Hashem Khan, popular television actor Bipasha Hayat, Dhaka University’s Art Department Chairman Jamal Ahmed and Shilpakala Academy Director Moniruzzaman, among others, participated in the art competition.

To observe the Day, a 36-members national committee has been formed with Minister Imaj Uddin Pramanik as its President. Additional Secretary of the Textile and Jute Ministry has been made Member Secretary of the committee.

In addition to this, a 34-members district committee and 26-members

upazila and hill tracts district committee also have been formed to observe the day.

Various colorful events including decoration of important places in the capital with lights and festoons, rally, cultural programmes, boat rally and displaying of diversified jute goods also will be arranged to mark the day.The day will also be observed at all the Jute Mills under the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC), the minister added, reports BSS.
