Nazrul singer Khalid Hossain ‘critically ill’

Nazrul Sangeet singer and researcher Khalid Hossain has fallen ‘critically ill’ and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.
His sister Mahmuda Hossain told bdnews24.com today that the artiste was admitted to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital on Monday when his body temperature rose and chest pain worsened..
The doctors have kept him at the Intensive Care Unit.
Quoting the doctors, Mahmuda said Khalid was in ‘critical condition’. “He hasn’t improved yet,” she said.
Khalid would fall sick often after an open-heart surgery several years ago. He had to be hospitalised a number of times, Mahmuda said.
Born in Kolkata on Dec 4, 1940, Khalid Hossain has been working on recording the original notations of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s songs for five decades.
He also worked as a teacher and examiner of Nazrul Sangeet at the National University, Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, and all the education and textbook boards.
The Ekushey Padak winner is a member of the Nazrul Notation Authentication Board at the Nazrul Institute.
Six of his albums are on Nazrul Sangeet, one on modern songs and 12 on Islamic ones , reports bdnews24.
