Need for establishing bankers-farmers cordial relation stressed

For the greater interests of mutual benefits coupled with boosting farm outputs, emphasis should be given on establishing cordial relation between bankers and farmers.Besides, the banking sector, particularly the Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB), should always work for exploring the potentialities in the agriculture sector and all its sub-sectors especially animal resources and fisheries in terms of encouraging investment in the region.Board of Directors of RAKUB made these observations in 424th meeting held at its board room here on Monday afternoon with Chairman Prof Dr Shah Newaz Ali in the chair, RAKUB sources here said today.RAKUB has been operating its banking activities as the largest development partner in all 16 northwest districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions targeting its agricultural sector and all its sub-sectors.Managing Director Monzur Ahmed and Directors Helaluddin Ahmed, Dilwar Bakth, Professor Dr Madan Mohan Dey, Professor Abaydur Rahman Pramanik, Mahbubul Alam and Nazmul Karim were present at the meeting.RAKUB should be committed to reach its services towards doorsteps of the farmers in general for elevating their living and livelihood condition.The meeting noted that the bank’s administrative and operational activities must be transparent and accountable alongside farmers-friendly for boosting agricultural production.For the sake of sustainable livelihood development of the farmers and for bolstering the agro-based economy, the meeting called for increasing the need-based credit flow.Terming the farmers as the vital force to boost up the agricultural productions they expressed their commitment to protect the farmers’ interests as a whole.BSS, Rajshahi
