Newborn miracle baby taken on Dhaka for better treatment

The newborn miracle baby, who was found alive while being buried at Alipur graveyard of the district town on Thursday morning, was taken to Dhaka on Saturday by a helicopter for better treatment.Abul Kalam Miah, the grandfather of the child, said, “Doctors suggested us to take the baby, Galiba Hayat, to Dhaka for better treatment on that day but we couldn’t do that for financial constraint. Galiba was finally taken to Square Hospital in the capital with financial support from a man who preferred to remain anonymous.”
Several hundred people thronged the Faridpur stadium when the baby was being airlifted to Dhaka.
Earlier in the morning, Faridpur deputy commissioner Umme Salma Tanjia visited Dr Jahid Memorial Child Hospital and enquired about the baby’s health condition.
Talking to UNB, Faridpur general hospital child specialist Khandaker M Abdullah-his-Sayad said the baby was sent to Dhaka for better treatment as it needs to be kept at a good incentive care unit (ICU). As the mother gave birth to the baby only after 24 weeks and it was only 700 gram there are some risks.
Six hours after a physician declared it dead, the newborn baby was found alive while being buried at Alipur graveyard of the district town on Thursday morning.
Advocate Najnin Akhter Popy, wife of local cricketer Najmul Huda Mithu of Kamlapur area of the town, was taken to Dr Jahid Memorial Child Hospital in the district town around 12:30 am on Thursday after she complained of labour pain.
Popy gave birth to a baby girl through normal delivery.
However, Rezia Alam, a physician of the hospital, declared the baby dead two hours after its birth.
Later, the family members took the baby in a carton to the graveyard at night for burial.
They left the graveyard keeping the carton with the baby inside it at a grave as the authority of the graveyard asked them to come in the morning.
The family members and locals again came to the graveyard in the morning to bury the girl. However, it cried out when the carton was opened.
Later, the baby girl was taken to the same hospital.
