N’ganj boiler blast kills three workers

Dhaka – Three workers were killed and four others injured as a boiler of an ice factory went off in Kanchpur area of Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj, about 15 kolomeres east of the capital on Saturday night, UNB news agency reported.
The identities of the victims as well as the reason behind the blast could not be ascertained immediately.Sonargaon Police Station officer-in-charge Manjur Kader said the boiler at Ali Raj Ice Factory at Bhaiapur blasted with a big bang around 10:15am when 7-8 workers were inside the factory, leaving two of them dead on the spot and five others injured.
Of the injured, one died on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The OC said fire fighters and local police rushed to the spot and launched their rescue operation.
He said they could not identify the victims as the owner of the factory had gone into hiding after the incident.
