Nigerian army tightens securit for Christmas holiday

The Nigerian army has stepped up military operations nationwide to prevent a possible spike in criminal activities during the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, an official said Wednesday.Aminu Iliyasu, spokesperson for the Nigerian army, said in a statement that the security service has carried out several military operations to further “strangulate and deny criminals freedom of action.”
The troops will continue to create a “peaceful and conducive” environment throughout the yuletide season, Aminu quoted Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai as saying, reports Xinhua, Lagos.
