Niko graft hearing against Khaleda again on April 23

Dhaka, April 10 – A Dhaka court on Wednesday fixed April 23 to hold next hearing on the charge framing in Niko Graft case against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of Special Judge Court-9 of Dhaka deferred the date as Khaleda Zia was admitted at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital for treatment.
Later Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Syed Jaynul Abedin Mejbah said, “Khaleda Zia is admitted to hospital following her physical illness. Charge hearing is not legal during her absence.”
Meanwhile, ACC lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal said, “Khaleda Zia is sick. The court is informed about her treatment.”
Later, the court fixed the new date after hearing both sides in the case.
On December 9, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC filed the case accusing 11 persons of misusing power to grant a gas deal to Canadian company Niko, when Khaleda Zia was the Prime Minister of the country. – Court Correspondent
