No brothel in B’desh should be Int’l Women’s Day slogan

The 8th March, the international women’s day will be celebrated in Bangladesh as in other countries of the world. The theme of the day is INSPRING CHANGE. The Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs (MoWCA) and many NGOs will squander a huge amount of money celebrating the day organising seminars, rallies, meetings at public places and the like, as well as making and distributing leaflets and festoons. We, Bangaldeshi women, are called nari and as we do not like to be called mohila as it comes from the word mohol, where women make men happy through dance and other entertainment activities. The women activists have now established the use of the word nari but their voices have not been heart against the Brothels/prostitutions that still exist in the country. Almost everyday, many innocent girls and women are trapped and sent to the prostitutions. Women activists also consider it as a profession for nari which is not supported by Islam the predominant religion as well as other faiths that are practices in Bangladesh.
I would suggest that Bangladeshi women’s slogan on the occasion of International Women’s Day should be – No brothel in Bangladesh – as women have are subjected inhuman treatment at those places.
