Opposition leader Khaleda Zia on Thursday warned that there will be no
compromise over its demand for the restoration of non-party polls-time
government. “There’s no scope for any compromise.
We’ll continue our
works for the country and establishing the rights of people. Making a
compromise means to accept and pamper injustice,” she said at an
unscheduled views-exchange with senior journalists at the Jatiya Press
Club.
Terming their demand highly ‘justified’, she said, “It’s you (Awami
League) had raised the same demand (for introduction of caretaker
government system). We amended the Constitution accepting the demand, but
you abolished it (caretaker provision) again.”
“Now we want to establish rights of people, and it’s now our demand,”
he added. Editors of newspapers and senior journalists were present
at the views-exchange programme held in the evening. – UNB
