No democracy in Bangladesh, says Ershad

Observing that there is no democracy and good governance in the country, Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad on Wednesday said they will build a new Bangladesh establishing good governance if his party returns to power.
“There’s no democracy in the country…there’s lack of good governance. People want good governance. They want to get rid of the fear of terrorism, enforced disappearances and killings,” he said.Ershad, also a special envoy to the Prime Minister, was addressing a rally organised by his party at Laldighi Maidan in the city.
The former military ruler alleged that there is anarchy, killing, enforced disappearances and terrorist acts everywhere in the country. “Once Jatiya Party returns to power, a new Bangladesh will be built which will be free of anarchy and terrorism.”
He also alleged that Ziaur Rahman had destroyed the spirit of the Liberation War though he was a freedom fighter, and said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is one step ahead as she awarded the national flag to the vehicles of the anti-liberation forces.
