No Hefazat banner for March to Dhaka

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh (HIB) will not participate in the Sunday’s March to Dhaka for Democracy under its banner, according to a central leader of the organisation.

He however said, the leaders and supporters of the HIB could participate under the banner of a political platform comprising different Islamic parties and organisations.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the central leaders and leaders of Dhaka and Chittagong city held at Hathazari after doa mahfil for the salvation of country and its people from political turmoil.
The meeting emphasised the need for working together with different Islamic political parties and organisations at the critical juncture of the nation.
Earlier, addressing the doa mahfil, the HIB leaders urged the prime minister to cancel the schedule of candidate less January 5 general elections and resolve the political impasse by holding dialogue with the opposition leader.
They said a congenial atmosphere should be created to hold an acceptable election.
HIB ameer Allama Ahmad Shafi said the government snatched all the rights of people including the freedoms of talks.
He said many people are killed like birds and even houses of those activists, who are fighting for the rights of people are being demolished.
As part of the countrywide programme, the doa mahfil was held at Jame Baitul Atiq at Hathazari.
People from different sphere of life took part in special munajat conducted by the HIB ameer.
Nayebe ameer of HIB Hafez Shamsul Alam, Mufti Jasim Uddin, Maulana Forkan Ahmed, Maulana Ahmed Didar, Maulana Anas Madani, Mualna Monir Ahmed and Maulana Ashraf Ali Nizampuri.
Dhaka city unit of HIB also organized a doa mahfil at its Lalbagh office seeking salvation of the nation from conflict and violence.
HIB nayebe ameer Maulana Abdul Hamid, pir of Madhupur, presided over the function. – Staff Reporter
