Two minor children were killed and several hundred thatched houses damaged as a nor-wester lashed 16 villages in Sadar upazila on Saturday night. The deceased are Hasan, 7, son of Kabel Uddin, and Mokseda, 10, daughter of Amirul Islam of Rangachira village in the upazila. Locals said the minor children died on the spot as the house of Amirul collapsed during the violent storm around 9:30 pm. Upazila parishad chairman Abdur Rashid said many trees were uprooted and Boro crops on vast tracts of land damaged by the storm that swept through villages under Kakuya, Dainya, Hugra, Baghil and Porabari unions of the upazila.
