An old man was killed in an attack by rivals over a land dispute at Shiler Towa village in Lama upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 65, a resident of the village.Police and locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Abul Kalam and Shahjahan of Shiler Towa over ownership of a piece of land.As a sequel to the past dispute, supporters of Shahjahan, equipped with home-made arms, attacked Kalam and chopped him at about 9:00am, leaving him injured.Critically injured, Kamal died on way to hospital. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar upazila hospital morgue for autopsy.Preparation to file a case in this connection was underway.UNB, Bandarban
