Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 300 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from his house in Chaklapara area of the district town early Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Rabiul Islam, 40, son of Lutfor Rahman, a resident of the area.
Niaz Mohammad Foysal, commanding officer of RAB-6, said on secret information, a team of RAB conducted a raid at Rabiul’s house in the area in the dead of night and arrested him.
Later, based on his confessional statement, the elite force also recovered 300 bottles of the contraband drug from the house.
Rabiul has been involved in drug peddling in the area for long, the commander added.
The elite force handed over him to Sadar Police Station.
A case was filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act. –UNB, Jhenidah
