One person was injured seriously as he was chopped allegedly by his opponents at Sundarpur village under Nayalabhanga union in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Friday. The injured person was identified as Taraj Ali, 50, son of Bulu Mondol of Sonapur village under Baliadanga union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila. Police and local sources said, Taraj Ali was going to Babupur from his house. When he reached Sundarpur, a group of miscreants attacked him with sharp weapons at around 9 am and after injuring him seriously they fled away. Later locals rescued him and took him to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, the doctor on duty referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. At this, the two rival groups of the area were locked in clash. They ransacked houses, set fire to a number of houses and exploded cocktails.
