A man was shot dead and another was injured in a clash with blockaders and members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Afaniabazar in Begumganj upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Khorshed Alam, 55, of Rasulpur village of Sonaimuri upazila while the injured as Imam Uddin, 37, a rickshaw puller and resident of Mir Alipur village of Begumganj upazila.
Witnesses said the clash broke out around 1:00am as blockaders obstructed several pickup vans carrying Rab personnel while going to Sonaimuri upazila from Begumganj.
As the Rab troops tried to bring the situation under control, the blockaders attacked them, prompting the law enforcers opened fire, leaving two people, including Khorshed, injured.
Khorshed died on the way to Sadar Hospital.
On information, police from Sudharam Model Thana recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali Medical College Hospital.-UNB, Noakhali
