An alleged robber sustained bullet injuries in a reported ‘gunfight’ with police in Tala upazila on Wednesday morning.
The victim was identified as Atiar Moral,35, son of late Afsar Uddin, resident of Lautara village in Tala upazila.Officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station M Rezaul Islam confirmed the incident saying, on secret information that a team of bandits was taking preparation for committing robbery at Islamkati, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in the area.
Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire towards them, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate which injured Atiar.
Later, police arrested Atiar and recovered a shutter gun, two rounds of bullet and two knives from the spot.
Atiar was taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital. – UNB
