Orientation programme held at BAU

The orientation programme for the freshers under six faculties of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) was held on Sunday with allegation of massive mismanagement in Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium of the university.Prof Abdul Mannan, chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), attended the ceremony as chief guest while BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ali Akber was present as chief patron with students affairs advisor Prof Dr Jasim Uddin Khan in the chair.
The audiences alleged that the programme was full of mismanagement and lack of coordination. Prof Abdur Rashid, dean of agricultural engineering and technology faculty, some other officers and journalists of different print and electronic media got no seat in the auditorium due to derangement in the seat management. Chaos also took place when flower was being offered to the newcomers.
Prof Abdur Rashid said that I found my seat occupied while I had returned from washroom. It was a failure of the administration and management authority, he alleged.
In reply to the allegation Prof Dr Jasimuddin Khan, Chairman of orientation implementation committee, said, “We are sorry for the incident. We have nothing to say when anybody occupies others seat ignoring him. The members of rover scouts tried their best.”
