ORS production to wait till Govt registration: ICDDR,B

The ICDDR,B has decided to stop production of the saline until it gets
registration from Directorate of Drug Administration in accordance
with the drug act of 1982 and it will not be used in any hospital,
said a press release issued on Saturday.
An ICDDR, B official said saline of a private company would be used
until the registration would be available. “There will be no problem
in getting treatment of patients during the interim period,” he added.The release mentioned that the ICDDR, B invested the saline at the end
of the sixties and had been used at Dhaka Hospital at Mohakhali and
Matlob Hospital in Chandpur. Staff cooperative society of the ICDDR, B
produced the saline and the authority supplied at a free of cost.
It also mentioned that there was no government approval to produce the
saline and registration of the Drug Administration. The issue of
registration came into lime light after the RAB drive revealed that
some companies were using the name of ICDDR,B to produce the rice
