Ottis Gibson maintaining close touch with BCB

Dhaka — Former West Indian cricketer and coach Ottis Gibson is maintaining close touch   with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to fill the vacant place of Bangladesh National team’s bowling coach.

Bangladesh’s last bowling coach and former South African cricketer Charl Langeveldt left Bangladesh recently to take the responsibility of his home country.

Gibson is now in Bangladesh and working as the head coach of Cumilla Warriors in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

“It’s a long process, but yes, we are in talks. And, I am interested to take the role of Bangladesh’s bowling coach. It will be a great chance for me to work with the young pace bowlers,” Gibson told the media on Monday at BCB national academy ground.

In his cricketing life, Gibson played for West Indies, Glamorgan County Cricket Club and Leicestershire Cricket Club. He was more successful in first-class cricket.

He also has a long career in coaching. In 2007, he was pace-bowling coach of England. Later, he played the roles of the head coach of West Indies and South Africa.UNB
