Partial cross-exam against MP Bodi’s case

The defence lawyers of the graft case against Awami League MP Abdur Rahman Bodi on Wednesday partially cross-examined ACC Deputy Director Abdus Sobhan. Later, Judge Abu Ahammad Jamader of Special Judge Court-3 fixed January 6, 2016 for next cross-examination of the witness.

The court framed charges against Bodi on September 9 while recording the depositions of the witness ended on November 25.

On August 21, last year, the ACC lodged the case with Ramna Model Police Station of the capital accusing MP Bodi of amassing wealth illegally. As per the First Information Report (FIR) of the case, he submitted his wealth statement to the ACC on February 23, last year, mentioning his and his family’s wealth worth about Tk 5.2 crore. However, scrutinizing his income tax return, the ACC probe found that he acquired over Tk 16.07 crore in the last five years (2009-2013) and also earned wealth about Tk 11 crore illegally.
