People must know stock market before investing money: Muhith

Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said present stock market is modern and internationally recognized one and the government along with Bangladesh Securities Exchange Commission (BSEC) had to work hard to take the capital market to this position.

“We’ve been able to create a foundation for the stock market over the last seven years and now it is the time to flourish the market,” said the finance minister while inaugurating ‘Investment Education Fair-2018’ here today.

BSEC organized the fair to create awareness among the people about the investment in stock markets.

Muhith said once there were no rules and policies for the capital market and people invested in the markets on the basis of hearsay that led the market to crushing twice earlier.

People have misconception about the stock market and many of them invest in the stock markets without knowing anything which is not right, investors need to study to learn about the market, said the finance minister.

“BSEC has organized the fair to create awareness and remove their misconception about the markets,” he said.

He said the present government has been working for the empowerment of the people and capital market plays an important role to empower the people financially.

Muhith said Bangladesh needs a huge investment and if people invest in the capital markets properly, they will be able to play direct role for the development of the country. There is a bright future for Bangladesh and the government will build a prosperous country with participation of all, he added.

The finance minister went round different stalls at the fair.

BSEC chairman Dr M Khairul Hossain and BSEC commissioner Prof Md Helal Uddin Nizami spoke on the occasion.
