People rush to city’s amusement centres

DHAKA – Hundreds of tour-hungry people with their kith and kin rushed to the city amusement centres on the concluding day of the three-day public holiday on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr today.In some places in the capital took virtually a barren look on the occasion of the festival due to the public holidays.
Temporary Eid fairs were also organised where many city-dwellers with their offspring rushed braving even the torrential rain in the morning.
People with their near and dear ones, who could not travel to their ancestral homes on the eve of the Eid, thronged Ramna Park,
Dhanmondi Lake, Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban plaza, Hatirjheel project, Chandrima Udyan, Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University and other places to add something more to their amusement.
On the Eid day on Friday, many city people with their kith and kin were seen thronged at the National Children’s Park at Shahbag, Botanical Garden and Dhaka Zoo.
An officer of Dhaka Zoo told BSS that there were rains in the morning today, the number of visitors at the zoo and Botanical Garden was comparatively less than expected.
But, as the sky was cleared of clouds and rains and the sun appeared in the horizon at about 1 in the afternoon, a good number of families thronged both the places of attraction, he added.
Besides, city people in hundreds also thronged at Ramna Park, National Museum, Fantasy Kingdom and Nandan Park at Ashulia, Ahsan Manjil, Lalbag Fort, Baldha Garden, Mirpur Embankment, Basundhara City, the National Memorial at Savar, Shishu Mela at Shyamali, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Novo-theatre and other places of amusement.
The law and order situation in the city was comparatively better on the eve and after the Eid this year than the previous years, opined a number of vacationers and Eid shoppers. – BSS
