People to force mid-term election thru movement: Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said the people would compel the government to hold fresh general election before 2019 by waging massive movement.
“The ruling Awami League is always saying that the next general election will not be held before 2019. But people will compel the government to hold fresh general polls election before 2019 by waging massive movement,” he told reporters.He made the remarks after paying rich tribute at the mazar of late president Ziaur Rahman, marking the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’
He termed day as very important saying on this day patriot people and soldiers foiled the conspiracy hatched against the country’s sovereignty and independence and had freed Ziaur Rahman from his captivity on November 7 in 1975.
“Taking to the streets people had assigned Ziaur Rahman to run the country. A new era had ushered in the country and democracy brought back due to unparallel leadership of Ziaur Rahman,” Fakhrul said.
Referring to the latest development in the country’s political arena, he said the day is very important as the democracy, sovereignty and independence have already been destroyed.
Referring to the Awami League leaders’ remark against late president Ziaur Rahman Mirza Fakhrul said the ruling party men continued to lie blatantly.
“Ziaur Rahman had been confined on November 3 in 1975 and people and soldiers freed him on November 7. And he (Zia) had saved the nation from a serious disaster,” he said.
He further said colonel Taher had created chaos among the armed forces. BNP acting secretary general called upon the people of country to wage united movement under the leadership of party chairperson Khaleda Zia. – Staff Reporter
