Phulgazi UZ chairman victim of AL’s intra-party feud: Fakhrul

Chairman of Phulgazi Upazila Parishad Ekramul Haque, who was shot and burnt to death on Tuesday, was a victim of upazila unit of Awami League intra party feud, says BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“The government is trying to shift the responsibility of the killing on the shoulder of the BNP to cover up its misdeeds including seven murders in Narayanganj,” he claimed while addressing an urgent press conference at party headquarters at Naya Paltan in the city.The BNP leader alleged that the prime minister’s office issued a statement soon after the incident shifting its responsibility to BNP.
“Falsehood must be defeated. The government will not be able to cover up the Feni incident as they failed to do it in Naryanganj,”
The Phulgazi upazila chairman of Feni was shot and burnt to death in his car by a group of miscreants in the district town.
Terming the government illegal, the BNP spokeperson said the government has become desparate to cover up its crimes against humanity being carried out by party terrosts and cadres.
“That’s’ why, the government is shifting the responsibility to others without carrying out any investigation and tial,” he added.
The BNP leader said the government has become condemned and hated and isolated natioanlay and international due to killing, enforced disappearance and abduction including seven murders in Narayanganj and its extra judicial killings in the name of crossfire and gun fights.
He demanded the government to unearth the fact through carrying out neutral investigation into Ekram killing and provide punishment to the real parptrators.
Fakhrul also demaded trials of those carried out attack, set fire and plundering on the homes BNP leaders and their business enterprises after the incident.
BNP joint secretary general Rizvi Ahmed, among others, was present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited Chhatra Dal senior vice president Sadiul Kabir Nirob at a hospital.
Kabir was seriously injured as a group of terrorists attacked on him at Shahbagh on Sunday night.
Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anny, JCD president Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jwel and general secretary Habibur Rahman Habib were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, addressing a discussion meeting, BNP chairperson’s adviser Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said the next Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not such a person to hold talks with a government that has no public support.
