Plagariam detection software launched at BD University

Dhaka – First of its kind-a Plagiarism Detection Software (PDS) developed under a Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) Sub-project CP 3655 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) was formally launched at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka on Saturday.Hon’ble Home Affairs Minister Asaduzaman Khan Kamal MP attended the launching program as the chief guest while Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC, Prof. Dr. Mahbubur Raman, VC, BSMRAU, and Prof. Dr. Md. Hazrat Ali, Treasurer, SAU attended as special guests. Prof. Md. Shadat Ulla, Vice Chancellor, SAU had presided over the launching program.
After launching the PDS, Home Minister Asaduzaman Khan Kamal MP in his speech appreciated the development of the plagiarism detection software and expressed his firm hope that the PDS will help in controlling plagiarism and encourage the MS/PhD students to write original thesis/dissertation. Recalling the brilliant contributions of the Krishibids, the Minister acknowledged that due to the agricultural experts’ hard work the country could attain self-sufficiency in the food sector. He advised the students to study attentively to accomplishing their academic goal.
The program was also addressed by Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC, who highlighted various aspects of UGC’s interventions towards enhancing the quality of higher education.
Among others, Prof. Dr. Mahbubur Raman, VC, BSMRAU, and Prof. Dr. Md. Hazrat Ali, Treasurer, SAU, Prof. M Zahidul Haque,  Sub-project Manager (SPM), CP3655 also addressed the function.
Prof. Dr. Md. Sekender Ali, DSPM of the Sub-project presented the key points of PDS.
Prof. Md. Shadat Ulla, Vice Chancellor of SAU in his concluding speech expressed his hope that the PDS would upgrade the standard and quality of students’ research work and thesis presentation.
It may be mentioned here that the PDS has been installed in an archive of agricultural theses and journals of Bangladesh developed by Prof. Dr. Md. Sekender Ali under a previous HEQEP sub-project. This archive may be accessed/reviewed at: http://www.saulibrary.edu.bd/daatj – Press release
