PM Hasina asks Quami Ulema to motivate people against militancy

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged the aleem-ulema of Qawmi madrassas to motivate the mass people against the spread of terrorism to expedite the government’s efforts to eliminate this social menace from the country.

“Please motivate people to engage them in the anti-terrorism movement,” she said.

The Prime Minister made the call when a group of top aleem of Qawmi madrassas, led by Maulana Asharaf Ali, met her at her Parliament office.

PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.

He said Sheikh Hasina said the huge number of students who are receiving education in Qawmi madrassas across the country should be brought in the mainstream of education.

“To ensure cent percent literacy rate in the country, there’s no scope to leave any part of society behind,” she said.

She also assured the aleem of extending all-out support of the government to develop the country’s Qawmi education.

The aleem thanked the Prime Minister for her announcement to provide certificates to the Qawmi madrassa graduates.

This is a breakthrough and historical decision…this will be written with golden letters in the pages of history, they said.

They also recalled the contributions of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his great contributions towards flourishing Islam in the country.

The said Bangabandhu had given a land to establish ‘markaz’ of Tablig Jamaat in the country, and praised the Prime Minister for giving 107 acres of land for Biswa Ijtema.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and PM’s Adviser HT Imam were, among others, present at the meeting.
