PM Legitimizes 1/11 interim govt: BNP

Opposition BNP Standing Committee Member Tariqul Islam on Saturday alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina legitimized the interim government of Fakhruddin-Moyeenuddin by addressing the nation marking the 1/11 anniversary.“When hundred thousands of people were observing the black day expressing their hatred towards the autocratic rule, the premier gave validity to the regime by addressing the nation,” he said.
The BNP leader came up with the allegation while addressing a seminar on ‘Present Political Crisis and Caretaker Government System’ organized by University Teachers’ Association of Bangladesh (UTAB) held at the National Press Club.
On Friday evening, Sheikh Hasina addressed the nation marking the four-year completion of her government.
Tariqul termed the prime minister’s address as nothing but a presentation of ‘rhetoric of development and falsehood’.
Mentioning that the government has created the existing political crisis over the election-time administration in a planed way, he called upon the called upon the ruling party to resolve it.
The seminar was also addressed, among others, by former Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Professor Moniruzzaman Miah and former Jahangirnagar University VC Khandaker Mostahidur Rahman.
The seminar was presided over by UTAB president and DU teacher AFM Yusuf Hyder.
