Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought cooperation from all and sundry to rid Bangladesh free of militancy and terrorism.
She made the call at an event marking the National Children Day at Tungiparha in Gopalganj on Monday.
The day is celebrated on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.Hasina said her government would continue to crack down hard on drug trafficking as well.
“Terrorism, militancy and drugs destroy people’s lives. All should say no to these menaces,” she said.
Sheikh Mujib, father of the prime minister, was born on this day in Tungiparha in 1920.
Shahriar Alam Mahin, a sixth grader, in his welcome address called upon all to project the real history of the War of Independence.
Hasina exhorted the children to be serious in their studies and prepare themselves to fulfil the dreams of Bangabandhu.
“We want to ensure safety for all children. For that we want to rid the nation of terrorism and militancy,” Hasina said.
The prime minister stressed that the children should focus on physical exercise and cultural activities along with studies.
Hasina said March is an important month in the history of Bangladesh.
“The father of the nation had delivered his historic speech on Mar 7. He was born on Mar 17. He declared independence on Mar 26.” – bdnews24.com
