PM strongly condemns Pak resolution

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday strongly condemned the Pakistan National Assembly’s resolution expressing concern over the execution of Bangladesh’s war criminal Abdul Quader Mollah.   “We strongly condemn it…there has been a trial of a war criminal in our country (Bangladesh) what’s Pakistan’s business in it? Why are they (Pakistanis) so compassionate for them (war criminals)? she questioned.   The Prime Minister came up with her strong remarks in her opening speech at a meeting of 14-party alliance at her official residence at Ganobhaban in the evening.Meanwhile, Awami League’s sub-committee on International Affairs on Wednesday said that the resolution taken by Pakistan parliament will “encourage BNP-Jamaat to involve in more destructive activities.”   “Pakistan did not seek pardon for their 1971 role even after 42 years of the country’s independence. Even they didn’t pay the financial dues.
We condemn their stance centering the execution of Quader Mollah. It is a violation of diplomatic norms,” said sub-committee chairman former ambassador Muhammad Zamir at a press briefing.   The press briefing was held after a meeting of the committee at the Awami League president’s political office at Dhanmondi in the city.
“Pakistan’s activities will encourage BNP-Jamaat to involve in more destructive activities,” said Muhammad Zamir, also a member of Awami League advisory council.   The National Assembly of Pakistan on Monday adopted a resolution expressing concern over the hanging of war criminal and Bangladesh Jamaat-i-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah for ‘his loyalty for Pakistan’ during the events of 1971.
The resolution, which was moved by Sher Akbar Khan, also expressed condolences with Bangladesh and family members of Abdul Quader Mollah.   Muhammad Zamir also condemned the incident of European Union (EU) diplomats not turning up at the Savar National Mausoleum on the Victory Day (Dec 16). – UNB
