Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the first phase works on the much-talked-about ‘Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project’ in Pabna on October 2 next. This was revealed at the 60th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Undertakings held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday.
Committee chairman M Ali Ashraf, MP chaired the meeting which was attended, among others, by M Dabirul Islam, MP, Shamsur Rahman Sharif, MP, Rasheda Begum Hira, MP and ABM Mozammel Haque, MP.
The meeting was told that an agreement was signed with Russian constructor JSC Atomstroyenport for the construction of 2000 MW-capacity nuclear power plant involving a cost of Tk 5087 crore. – UNB
