The Forest Department has arrested an alleged poacher with a deer skin
on Friday morning from Joymoni of Mongla .
Chandpai Range Officer Md Kholilur Rahman said that on Friday morning,
a trawler was going from Shela river to Pashur river. Then the forest
guard of this area tried to stop the trawler.
At this time, the poacher instead of stopping the trawler, accelerated
the speed of the trawler and anchored it on the bank of Joymoni.
On suspicion, the forest guard stopped the trawler, searched it and
recovered a deer skin. Among the two poachers, the forest guard
arrested Shafiqul Islam (25) but the other poacher Rubel managed to
escape.
Shafiqul lives in Madrasha Road of Mongla and Rubel in Chila. Filing a
case under Forest Law, he had been sent to Court on Friday noon.
There are allegation that he leads a group of deer hunters who hunt
the deer, sell the venison in the local area and have been poaching
the deer skin for a long time. -Our Correspondent
